Gutter cleaning

Through our years working with the public, we've come to realize that many people have trouble visualizing what we are talking about when we describe the effect guttering can have on the overall look of a house. Many people have the idea that guttering, while necessary, will detract from the attractiveness of their home or commercial building.

Here at Allred's Seamless Gutters, we take pride in proving these people wrong. A common experience we've had when showing potential customers pictures of houses is, "Why are you showing me that picture? What does that have to do with what you do?". They can't see the guttering - we choose the type of materials we do, not just because they are high quality and will be as dependable as possible, but also so that your building will be as (or more) attractive as when we started.

Have a look at some examples below. To make the guttering details easier to see, we have used larger images than normal, so if you have a slow Internet connection, you will need a little patience before you are rewarded!

We've added some of our latest work on a new page - go to this page and see new houses in Pinehurst on the famed #2 and #7 golf courses.

2005 Progressive Farmer Idea House and Farmstead

In this house, we used 6" half round aluminum gutters with 4" round downspouts.

As you will see, we changed color on the downspouts so that they "disappear" against the building material they are in front of.

Amazing Grace Home

6" white K-style aluminum with 4" round white downspouts.

These gutters, paired with Victorian grey diverters to match the roof (see below), actually add to and accentuate the wonderul, classic archtecture of this older home.

White K-style Aluminum

6" white K-style aluminum gutters were used on this house, with basket hangers and 3 × 4 white aluminum downspouts.

With basket hangers, if there's "no fascia board, there's not problem!"

A close up of the gutter is shown below, giving more detail of how the basket hangers appear.

White brick home in Village of Pinehurst, known as "the Castle"

For this uniquely designed older home, many special touches were needed. We used 6" copper half round gutter with 4" round downspouts.

We needed to install a conductor head at one point, that was 14" wide × 8½ deep × 11" high with a 3" × 4" outlet.

For the "turret", radius 6" half round copper gutters were required.

Unusual angles required 6" half round gutters with hand-made miters. These miters have to be physically cut and shaped to correctly fit the angle of the house.

More detailed views of aspects of installing gutters

Flashing is used when the shingle or metal roof line is too short. This enables the flow of water to run straight into the gutters instead of behind the gutters. As a result, the water cannot cause severe water damage to the fascia board behind the gutters. flashing

Wedges are used to fur the fascia board out so the gutter alignment will be straight.

As you can see in the picture, the fascia board is at a 45º angle. The wedges make it look as though the fascia is straight.
